Rewards and Recognition

Our ERA Programme is based around the school’s three values of ‘Enjoy, Respect, Achieve’. They underpin what makes our students individually unique and unites our school community. Every student has the opportunity to excel, in and outside of the classroom. We encourage your child to continue working towards their goals and making their time at TPS a memorable one.

Below are some of the rewarding opportunities available to students:  

ERA Points 
To recognise individual achievement or exceptional effort ERA ‘points’ are awarded throughout each term, and these points turn into prizes!

All our staff can award ERA Points through ClassCharts. ERA points have no monetary value and therefore there is no cap on how many ERAs staff can award, but fair distribution is key. ERAs contribute to the students’ House totals and the house with the highest number of ERAs each week has its flag raised outside Reception for all to see. 

ERA Badges
Each year group has set ERA thresholds, so when a student has achieved the required number of ERA points they receive an ERA Badge to wear with pride. For example, Bronze 300, Silver 400, Gold 500 ERAs.

Accumulation on ERA points resets year throughout at student’s time at TPS. 

ERA Houses
Each student is aligned to one of six Houses, named below with their designated charities they raise money for throughout the year.

• Bourne: Stroke Association
• Joseph: World Wildlife Foundation 
• Kingsley: Save the Children
• Mirren: Dementia UK
• Redgrave: British Red Cross
• Zephaniah: RAF Charity

Each week individual student ERA points are added together for each student, every to equal the total number of house points is calculated each week and shared in daily notices with Tutor groups and on the weekly newsletter to parents.

ERA Houses become extremely competitive, especially during whole school events, where our House Captains – Miss Hinchcliffe and Mr Blackman – lead various events to support their chosen charities, alongside our whole school charity, Home Start.

Throughout the year there is further opportunity to earn ERA points for their Houses through participating in events and activities such as RAG week Tug-o-War and carnival games, Science Spaghetti Towers, TPS Bake-Off, Christmas Card Competition, House Netball and plenty more besides….

ERA Fortnight
Two weeks in the summer term offering students a variety of enrichment trips and events; some optional, some part of the current curriculum, but all are aimed at extending the school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Respect, Achieve’. Hot 100 
The Hot 100 ranks students based on their attendance, attitude to learning score and number of ERAs, minus any behaviour points.

At the end of term those in the top 100 in each year group are displayed on the red noticeboard in the main corridor and get a lesson off to take part in a fun activity such as going on inflatables and watching live music on the field. 

Postcards
Staff can send students postcards as a tangible recognition of their excellent work, effort or service to the school. They may be themed by department and are issued directly to students.

Gratitude Shout-outs
Students are encouraged to stand up and show their appreciation in assemblies for peers or staff members who have made a difference and enhanced their experience in school. This is acknowledged in the assembly with an applause. 

Fortnightly Vouchers 
Each fortnight one student in each year group wins a pair of Vue cinema tickets or Amazon vouchers. Progress Leaders randomly select one student who has maintained excellent attendance and received ERA points during the previous week. These are often presented in assemblies to recognise students’ effort and boost motivation.  

Celebration Assemblies 
At the end of every term, year groups come together for an extended assembly in recognition of the students’ efforts. Students who have shown an exceptional attitude to learning or those who have made outstanding academic progress have their names displayed by their Progress Leader. There are also voucher prize draws for those in the top 20% for ERAs, those who have maintained 100% attendance and those with zero negatives for the term.  

Social Media

Headteacher’s Commendation 
Selected by the Headteacher, Students receive a certificate in recognition of special achievements, such as community-based successes or project work, and are awarded Leadership ERA points.
