Science – Year 10

Students will be sitting Paper 1 topics from Biology and Chemistry, a more detailed breakdown of which can be found below:

Biology: Cells, Organisation, Infection and Response, Bioenergetics

Chemistry: Atomic Structure and Periodic Table, Bonding and Properties of Matter, Quantitative Chemistry, Chemical Changes, Energy Changes

Please take some time to encourage your child to reflect upon these topics and support them in addressing any gaps in their knowledge. There are several avenues of support available to assist students in this exercise:

  • TPS Science padlets, links for which can be found below – password for access is TPS.

  • Tassomai homework – minimum of four daily goals per week to check knowledge of topics that have been studied.
  • Science help and revision drop-in clinic on Thursdays from 3.15-4.15 in S5.

This is the last significant assessment of Year 10 and represents an opportunity to showcase students’ progress this year, whilst also serving as a powerful diagnostic tool to identify topics which are less securely understood prior to Year 11.

It will be of significant benefit to students to go into the summer holidays with a clear checklist of areas to work on should they find themselves with a spare hour every now and again.
